Rani Laxmibai Atma Raksha Prashikshan

The Uttar Pradesh government has prepared the Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defense Training Program for forty-six thousand girl students studying in upper primary schools in 75 districts of the state. The Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defense Training Program is also for girl students of class six to eight studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. Physical education teachers of schools will be guided and trained by the self-defense instructors of the Uttar Pradesh government to train the girl students. About eleven thousand physical education teachers/trainers will train pre-primary and primary school teachers. After the scheme is launched, teachers of all schools will be trained through a session duration of one hour per day. The very first target is to train these eleven thousand physical education teachers/trainers in 75 districts in a training session of 6 days. Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defense Training will include all the basic techniques, physical exercises, stunts and yoga asanas.

Objectives

The main objective of Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defense Training Program is to provide the girl students with the necessary knowledge and physical training for self-defense which is very important in today's time. The following points are important to get a brief understanding of the goals of this project-

  • To develop a sense of self-independence and empower them.
  • To educate them about the laws and provisions related to crime against women and domestic violence.
  • To enable them to think about what is necessary and healthy for them (for example, the difference between good and bad touch).
  • To spread awareness about the women helplines operating in the state and also tell them how they can benefit from it.
  • To ensure that they take a stand for themselves and other girls who are deprived of education or are victims of violence.

Outcomes of Training

There are various benefits of Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defence Training. From a young age, these girls will learn self defence techniques, basics and other stunts.

Outcomes of the training in the workshop organized on Veerangana Rani Laxmi Bai Self Defence Training Program are as follows:

  • Students will be told about the different forms of violence that ddddzzzcan happen to women or girls anywhere at home or outside.
  • Students will get different self-defence tips in the most efficient way to protect themselves by attacking the weaknesses of the attacker when harassed for real abuse, savagery, wrongdoing by using different objects.

The major activities under Gender Equity are as follows:-

  • Operation of Rani Laxmi Bai self-defense training program is in progress in 24220 upper primary schools.
  • Organized gender sensitization training of 20500 teachers/teachers in collaboration with UNICEF and NIMHANS.
  • Manufacture of modules under self-defense training
  • Organized a workshop on life skills education for 150 master trainers in collaboration with UNICEF.
  • In collaboration with NIMHANS Bangalore, a 25-day workshop on child rights, stress management, etc., of 50 SRGs of special focus districts.
  • In collaboration with NIMHANS Bangalore, a 25-day workshop for 100 teachers from all the districts of Special Focus districts on issues like child rights, stress management, etc.
  • Propaganda based on the rights of the girl child in 63712 schools through street plays etc.
  • 177468 children participated in the Global Handwash Day program.
  • In 133639 schools, discussions and sports activities were organized about women of repute in sports.
  • 45633 girls performed important roles at district block and school level under the ‘Ek Din Ki Naayika’ program.
  • 203621 girls were awarded for playing a leading role in the awareness program.
  • Self-defense training provided to 397329 girls.
  • Formation of Meena Manch / Bal Sansad in 1.33 lakhs schools.
  • Public awareness of menstrual hygiene management through the film
