Strengthening of Existing Schools
1. Additional Classrooms:To meet the "one classroom per teacher" requirement under the Right to Education Act, 1,490 additional classrooms were constructed in 2022-23.
Example:
Clean drinking water arrangements, including submersible pumps, are being installed in schools with approval under Samagra Shiksha. Efforts are also being coordinated for tap water connections in all schools.
3. Reconstruction of Dilapidated School Buildings:To ensure the safety and security of children, dilapidated structures are being demolished and reconstructed under Samagra Shiksha. To date, 7,333 dilapidated structures have been demolished and funding has been provided for reconstruction.

For schools identified as not requiring demolition, repair work is being approved under Samagra Shiksha.
5. Electrification/Solar Systems:-To support child-friendly smart classrooms and digital education equipment, electrification has been ensured in all council schools under Samagra Shiksha. For schools located more than 40 meters from the nearest electric pole, solar panels and solar RO water plants are being installed in collaboration with the Department of Renewable Energy.
6. Furniture:-Furniture facilities are being provided in upper primary schools to create a disciplined and comfortable classroom environment. Efforts are being made to extend this facility to primary schools as well.
7. Toilets for Boys, Girls, and Special Needs Students:-Separate functional toilets for boys, girls, and specially-abled students are being ensured in all schools under Samagra Shiksha to address retention issues caused by the lack of adequate sanitation facilities.

To promote hygiene among students and facilitate the midday meal scheme, multiple handwashing systems are being installed in schools under Samagra Shiksha.
