Special Training or Out of School Children (OoSC)

1.SHARDA– (School Har Din Ayein) program for identification, registration and enrolment and special training for out-of-school children :

  • Identification, registration, and enrolment in age appropriate class of out-of-school children in the age group of 7 to 14 years is done through family survey by school teachers and D.El.Ed trainees under the Sharda programme.
  • Out of school children of families working in brick kilns, quarries and migrating families are identified and enrolled in age appropriate classes. Panchayati Raj Department, Social Welfare and Labour Department also support in identification and enrollment of OoSC. Survey for identification of unserved settlements, market areas, railway stations, bus/taxi stands, jhuggi huts along railway tracks, nullah/river side settlements in urban areas is carried out with the help of NGO workers. All enrolled out-of-school children are provided amount for purchase of of 02 sets of uniform, sweater, shoe-shocks and school bags through DBT. Along with TLM and stationary, special training is are provided on the basis of Sharda condensed curriculum to out of children to develop reading and writing skills.
  • After completion of special training, these children are mainstreamed and their regular attendance and learning progress is tracked and shared with parents till completion of elementary education.
  • Sharda portal and Sharda mobile app have been developed for monitoring of identification and Enrollment of out-of-school children. All the data of Sharda portal has been integrated with Prerna portal of Basic Education Department.

2.Learning by doing:

  • Department of Basic Education is implementing Learning by Doing programme in a phased manner in upper primary/composite schools with the aim of introducing students to the basic technology of various vocational skills, explaining science and mathematics subjects in a theoretical as well as practical manner and developing schools as Skill Hubs in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy-2020. These technical skills will help in attracting children towards higher technical education and vocational education and making them employable in the future.
  • Apart from developing the educational skills of children in the age group of 11 to 14, under this program activities of different skills of 04 trades viz; 1. Engineering and Workshop 2. Energy and Environment 3. Agriculture, Nursery and Gardening 4. Home and Health Care are being taught. These activities are based on the principles of Experiential learning, Hands on activity & Joyful Learning due to which children are participating enthusiastically and showing a significant increase in their attendance, retention and their learning level in subjects like Science and Mathematics. These activities have been mapped with the curriculum of Science and Mathematics of class 6 to 8.

3. Student’s Educational Exposure Tour :

  • The educational study tour of 200 students of Department of Basic Education from each district is organized to develop an understanding of India's rich and ancient historical monuments/heritage and Indian culture and to develop a feeling of pride and patriotism towards the country. The objective of the educational tour of student’s is to increase attendance, retention, and learning level of children.

4. Annual Function :

  • Annual function is organized in all the Basic’s schools of the state. Cultural and other activities such as music, painting, poetry, story, creative writing, sports, etc. competitions are organized in annual function and students who perform well in the competitions are awarded and honored so that the motivation level is increased among the students.
